SKATE

DimensionsA: 26.5 x 5.5 cm B: 26.5 x 4.3 cm
Object numberHF.83.130.35 A-B
DescriptionOne pair. Very crudely carved woods are attached to blades by a small rod extending through the wood and blade at the toe of the skate. Forged at right angles to the heel of the blade (from the same piece of metal) is a circular hand designed to hold a screw which would extend through the wood into the boot heel. Woods: woods are very crudely carved, especially at arch indentation. There is one slot only at the toe for a leather strap, and the bottom of the heel of the skate has been cut out to accommodate the metal band for the screw. Blades: forged iron runners with a 4.5 cm. high "C"-shaped upturn. May not be a pair.
