Ptilidium pulcherrimum [G. Web.] Hampe. is a common leafy liverwort characterized by its narrow lobed leaves usually green or yellow-brown in colour. It is common in cliff, forest and woodland habitats and usually grows on decomposing logs, stumps, tree bases, tree trunks, rocks and cliffs. It is often one of the first species to begin growing on dead and fallen trees and can be found throughout North America.
