DescriptionBlack Victorian style cape with a lace collar and trim. There are sequins on the shoulders, ribbon ties, and a metal clasp at the neck.
Narrative
This cape belonged to the donor's great grandmother, Annie Beaton, of Heatherdale. The Beaton emigrants came from the Isle of Skye to PEI in 1841. They were Gaelic speakers. Annie was the second wife of widower, Laughlin MacPhee, also of Heatherdale. When Annie married Laughlin, he had 12 children from his first marriage. Annie would go on to have four children of her own with Laughlin.
