Narrative
Acadian Geology, the geological structure, organic remains, and mineral resources of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island by John William Dawson is a comprehensive survey of geoscience for the Atlantic Provinces.

William Dawson was looking for mineral wealth but also was gathering research into the age of our red rocks and how they fit with their neighbouring rocks in mainland Acadia. It was during this time that William Dawson crossed paths with Donald McLeod and his fossil - a portion of a jawbone from a Dimetrodon - one of the most fearsome predators of the Permian era!!  By 1878, William Dawson was deeply interested in the field of paleontology.
