DescriptionAn unused postcard with a colorized image of St. John's Presbyterian Church. The church is viewed across the cemetery towards the front of the church. Below the image is small black font which says "The Famous Belfast Church, built over 100 years ago by Scotch pioneer settlers, Prince Edward Island. 65". The reverse of the card has "Post Card / Carte Postale" in large font at the top center. A vertical line of small font divides the card down the center and a rectangle is present in the top right corner for a postage stamp.
Narrative
The Belfast Church also known as St. Johns Presbyterian Church was originally build in 1804 by the "Selkirk Settlers", Scottish Settlers mostly from the Isle of Skye sponsored by Lord Selkirk. The settlers arrived in PEI in 1803 on a ship called "Polly". The church which was originally a simple log building was rebuilt in about 1824 with additions in the 1830's and 60's as well as other renovations throughout the more than 200 years it has stood.
