PEI continued to use licence plates as a way to highlight the Island's assets, after the inaugural promotional plate in 1928 which used seed potatoes and foxes as the hook. This 1929 plate chose the title of "Garden of the Gulf", a phrase that was adopted in the early 20th century as way to boost the Island's expanding tourism industry.
