DescriptionSingle breasted Canadian militia uniform coat. The coat has a red brushed cotton exterior and a white quilted cotton and white wool lining with a red leather band around the waist. The collar is black wool with black satin lining with gold embroidery around the sides and top as well as a gold braid around the bottom edge. The coat is decorated with gold embroidery on the collar, gold braided epaulettes on the shoulders and eight metal buttons in gold colored metal on the front. The cuffs are black wool that extend toward the elbow, on the front side of the cuffs is a concave upside down "V" shape. The cuffs and collar are outlined in a gold colored leaf and vine design that is flanked by gold braids that transition into a decorative convoluted type design that extends almost to the elbow and almost to the cuff edge. The back of the coat has two white stripes and two button that extend from the waist level down. There are two large brass hook and eyes at the waist and collar. Behind the collar opening is a stitched inverted triangular shaped piece of stiff material. The shoulders of the coat has two heavily braided gold epaulettes with a silver and red velvet crown and a button with a central beaver that is topped with a crown and encircled with writing on each.
