Narrative
Pepsi Cola hired artist Norman Rockwell in 1965 to provide the artwork for point-of-sale cutouts for the Christmas campaign. The version of Santa Claus that ended up being used in the advertising campaign was not the version that Rockwell originally designed. Pepsi felt this first version looked intoxicated and too informal because Santa was wearing slippers. Rockwell replaced the slippers with shoes and toned down Santa's facial expression of "merriment", giving us this version for the 1965 Pepsi Cola Christmas.
