Narrative
This double series air twist style wine glass dates to 1750 England when Georgian era glass blowers began introducing decorative air elements into their wares as aesthetic trends changed. This style was also have been developed in an attempt to lighten the glass in order to reduce the 1745 Glass Excise Tax which was based on weight. The small stature of this glass was common for the 18th century as wine glasses held an average of <3 ounces of liquid.? ?

George Coles (1810-1875) was one of the Fathers of Confederation known for representing Prince Edward Island at both the Quebec and the Charlottetown Conferences.
