There is a silver button at the bottom of the trim that has a raised motif of a crown, surrounded by a laurel wreath. On either side of the rosette is a length of silk brocade trim, set on a diagonal. At the point of the rear extension spirals of silver wire are set lengthwise and capped by a square of knotted coils. The interior is lined with pleated violet silk. White bias tape is tacked along the rear two-thirds of the interior, serving as a sweat band.
.2) The plume consists of feathers attached in two layers to a double length of brass wire. The feathers are curved back upon themselves, forming a spherical shape. The lower layer is red and the upper layer is white.
