PROJECTILE POINT

Dimensions1 x 3.8 x 8.8 cm
Object numberHF.2023.20.1
DescriptionDark grey stone projectile point with a point at one end and a flattened end at the other. The sides are mostly curved outward with a slight inward curve on one side near the flatter end. Both of the faces of the point have been flaked though it has been worn down with age.
Narrative
In late Summer 2004, this point was found at Cove Head Beach, sitting above the sandline amongst rocks and driftwood.

This point has been identified as likely being 2000-3000 years old and appears to be made of stone not typically found on PEI. Visually, the point is similar to lanceolate points found in British Columbia and other parts of Canada.
