DescriptionA paper application and information form for “Fourth Victory Loan” printed by the Bank of Canada. The paper is rectangular and folded on the left side. The font is a combination of red and black and has such fields as name, postal code, amount, method of payment, denomination of bonds desired, etc. The cheque portion on the application form is partially filled out in black ink with the name "Mrs. Sentner", date "April 2, 1943", dollar amount "$100.00", and bank "Roy".
Narrative
The first domestic war loans began to be used in November 1915 with the name “Victory Loans” applied in 1917. Victory Loans were a great success during the First World War with the first Victory Loans issued collecting $398 million. Victory Loans were reintroduced during the Second World War with nine loans issued between 1941-1945 for a total of almost $12 billion, with 48% coming from individual citizens.
