Description.1 A) Violin with a brown finished body a black finger board with indentation on top of neck of finger board, a black tail piece with shield shape cut out, red wax string attached the tail piece to a knob at the bottom of the violin. There is a "f" shaped holes on either side of bridge. There is no fine tuners or chin rest. There are four dark brown/black tuning pegs on the scroll.
.1 B) Brown bow with white horsehair black frog with a mother of pearl circle and panel, and a brown leather finger rest.
.1 C) Wooden bridge, light colored with darker discoloration on the sides and top.
.1 E-G) Black pegs with round flattened top to ease twisting of peg.
.1 H) 42 cm wire with 0.3 cm circular piece on the end. The wire is wound around itself.
.2 A) Rectangular, light brown, wooden casing, open ended on one side. rosin sits inside wood casing. The rosin is opaque.
.2 B) A chunk of light brown rosin, little bit cylindrical. The rosin is not completely opaque
.3: Black violin-shaped case. The outside is canvas covered and has silver clasps and a silver lock on the outside. The interior is lined in green felt and has a holder for bow on the top and a pocket in the bottom. The bottom of the case has rounded feet.
.4: Rectangular pocket book with a yellow cover with a square outlined with green and red. There is a black band with title at top of the cover. There is a circle in the upper right corner that read 15 cent. The back cover is white with black lettering and green and yellow square
Narrative
This violin was handmade by an ancestor of the Donor in about 1772 in Scotland. It was brought from Scotland with the family when they emigrated to Canada.
