DescriptionRectangular promotional calendar for the year 1905 on behalf of J.G. Carver Oyster Saloon. The cardboard backing has a background image of floral vines surrounding a central black and white image of a boy holding one half of an oyster rake and dressed in a striped shirt with trousers and suspenders. He is also wearing a striped hat. The photo is bordered by bamboo type image. A smaller paper calendar with tear-away pages is stapled at the bottom centre of the backing.


Narrative
This year of 1905 calendar was a complimentary item from J.G. Carver's Oyster Saloon on Queen Street in Charlottetown.

George Carver was known on the island as the "Oyster King", and a newspaper article from the 1950s describes him as a well-known businessman in the Maritimes, and the New England States, for his work in the oyster industry, along with his status as the first man to successfully can lobster rarebit.
