Narrative

As the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread globally in 2020, many regular events and activities were cancelled. Several organizations shifted to on-line versions of their events. The Community Foundation of PE hosted a first-time Stay-At-Home Gala on April 24, 2020. The event raised money for not-for-profits, small businesses and artists impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic on PEI. Other companies like local printing company Stay Golden Custom, offered their help by creating a series of fundraising t-shirts featuring memorable and humorous quotes from Island politicians. Ten dollars from every shirt sale was donated to the Community Foundation's fundraising.?

Many City of Charlottetown facilities were closed due to the pandemic. The statement featured on the t-shirt was made by then Mayor of Charlottetown, Philip Brown, during a press conference announcing the widespread closures.
