DescriptionWoven basket with a square base. The side are flared to form a larger square opening. The basket has a single curved handle. The basket is woven in a one-over-one-under checker pattern. The warp splints (1.5 cm) are narrower than the weft splints (2.1 cm). The rim of the basket is wood splints nailed to the basket. The basket has a single curved wooden handle that is notched where it meets the rim. The handle is woven into the basket with the weft splints. Written in green on underneath of basket: "1975 Made by the Micmac Indians of Lennox Island PEI Canada"This style is a gathering basket.
