This painting depicts Noel A. Hooper, a Holstein farmer from Rustico, PEI. Hooper was the fourth generation to farm on the Clark/Hooper Farmstead and inherited the farm from his father-in-law, John Clark. Clark had previously managed the site as an Illustration Station, a federal initiative founded in 1923 to encourage experimental agricultural practices. Hooper's focus for the farm was on dairy as well as purebred Holsteins, with the production of crops solely for the farm's animals.
