DescriptionTen miniature “sheep” made from wool and pipe-cleaners. Eight of the sheep are small, “lambs” (.3-.10), two are large (.1-.2). Each “sheep” has a satin ribbon tied around its neck – two light pink, two blue, two green, two yellow, two dark pink, two yellow and one red. Each “sheep” has wool wrapped around its middle and head with black pipe-cleaners jutting out for legs, tail, ears and nose. Two of the large “sheep” and one of the “lambs” (.3) made of white/grey wool. Six of the small “lambs” have white wool bodies, and brown wool heads (.5-.10). One “lamb” is made of brown wool for body and head (.4). Narrative
This set of sheep was made in the early 1970s by Marjorie Hooper Dalziel (1941-2022)
an author and playwright from Rustico, PEI. The sheep accompanied a handmade nativity set (HF.2022.35.7a-l) every Christmas. Dalziel learned to sew at a young age from her grandmother, Margaret Stevenson
Clark. Over the years her projects served both practical and creative purposes including
clothes for her children, quilts, and handmade gifts.
