DescriptionA circular, hollow watch back missing the front. The interior features a circular piece of paper, folded around the edges in order to fit. At the center within two parallel circles is printed "Trenaman Clock and Watch Maker, Charlottetown, P.E. Island". Between the parallel lines is printed "Gold Rings Neatly Made. Plate and Jewellery Repaired." The metal body of the watch back is made of two sections which fit together. The back of the body is smooth with incised lines around the circumference. Narrative
John Trenaman was born in Ermington, Devon, England in 1792 and immigrated to Prince Edward Island prior to 1820. Trenaman established himself as a clockmaker in Charlottetown selling tall-case clocks, ogee clocks and watches, likely imported from England and America.
