Prince of Wales College, in Charlottetown, operated from 1860 until 1969, when the College amalgamated with St. Dunstan's University to form the University of Prince Edward Island. The College served as a junior college, offering the final two years of high school, the first two years of university, as well as being a school for teachers - the Normal School.
After a devastating fire in 1932, which destroyed the entire campus, it didn't take long for a brand-new campus to welcome students in 1933. The next major construction project wouldn't be until 1961 when a women's residence - named Montgomery Hall after the College's most famous graduate - was built. The donor noted that these two plates were a "nice reminder of the short-lived ladies' residence". Affectionately known as "Lucy's Place or Monty Hall", the residence only operated for 7 years before the school joined with St. Dunstan's.
