DescriptionRectangular hardcover 177-page book. Multicoloured glossy pages consisting of photography, illustrations and text exploring the Canadian Premier League’s story of The Island Games. The outer cover has a background of blue and navy diamond shapes, alternating in colour and decreasing in size toward the centre. In the centre of the front cover is the official logo from 2020 with white text above and below. The back cover depicts the logos of the 8 Canadian Premier League teams. As the COVID-19 pandemic settled into its first summer in 2020, there were many events that were in doubt due to health safety concerns. Fans at large sporting events were prohibited, and it was common for players to only interact with their teammates and coaching staff, while living in isolation during their seasons. Regular COVID testing occurred and protocols were in place.
PEI was the “safest” place in Canada, with low numbers of infections and no deaths until January 14, 2022. At the time, the Atlantic Bubble was operational which limited who could come onto the island. A decision was made that the Canadian Premier League teams would relocate to PEI for their playoff season.
