Narrative
The Canadian National Railway (CNR) was incorporated in 1919 as a result of the Intercolonial, Canadian Northern (which included the Prince Edward Island Railway), National Transcontinental and Grand Trunk Pacific railways coming together under a consolidated government railway system. The maple leaf logo of CNR was first introduced in 1943 in hopes of promoting patriotism in the face of World War II. The logo was pared down in 1954, as seen here, to mark the arrival of new passenger cars which were equipped with unprecedented amenities.
