The interior of the oval is filled with a brown background where a different fabric was used at the top center and center right sections. At the center are six blue, pink, and red flowers made of various yarn and fabric. The flowers are arranged in a low, bulbous, brown vase hooked with fabric and featuring a blue fabric base. The very outermost edge has a black fabric boarder. The bottom right corner of the reverse features a rectangular white cotton label which reads “PEI Museum / Heritage Rug Registry / # 968” stitched in place with white thread.
Narrative
Minnie Mae MacIntyre was an avid rug hooker. She often repurposed old clothing into her original patterns. Minnie Mae also was known to always be carrying hard candies, which she kept in the pocket of her apron. Later in life, after several annual bouts of pneumonia, Minnie Mae's children were concerned for her well-being and decided to move her to an assisted-living centre. Minnie Mae was so upset that she completely stopped speaking for the rest of her life.
