Narrative
Road to Avonlea is a Canadian television series which originally broadcast from 1990-1996. The series is based on several publications by L.M. Montgomery, primarily inspired by “The Story Girl” and “The Golden Road”. Road to Avonlea starred Canadian child-actor Sarah Polley, Lally Cadeau, Mag Ruggman, Cedric Smith, Jackie Burroughs, and Zachary Bennet. Mostly filmed in Uxbridge, Ontario, the set for the show was based on thousands of detailed photographs of 19th century Prince Edward Island. Several scenes were filmed on PEI and featured familiar backgrounds including the Orwell Corner Historic Village, Dalvay by the Sea, and the Sea Cow Head Lighthouse.
