DescriptionMaple Windsor style armchair with a flat seat and splayed legs. Between the legs is an H stretcher. The chair has a curved back that also forms the arms. There are seven spindles that make up the lower part of the back. There is also a shorter curved crest rail that is attached to the chair back by six spindles. Narrative
Captain Ellis took chair from a ship carrying settlers from England in 1815. Ship landed at Port Hill. Captain Ellis gave 1 chair each to his 2 sisters (Mr. MacDougall's ancestors) who were aboard the ship. Originally painted black.
