DescriptionWooden arm chair with a trapezoidal one-piece seat that flares towards the front and has square-cut notches in the seat to accommodate the front and back legs. The front legs are square with canted corners and are tapered toward the base and the upper end where they provide support for the arms. The chair has double box stretcher with cylindrical rungs that are tapered at either end and secured by mortise and tenon joints. The seat is skirted on all sides by a rectangular wooden apron with forged nails serving to secure the plank seat. The back legs are square and tapered at base, and extend upwards as canted stiles and is topped with backward beveled finials. The upper crest rail is concavely curved and secured to the stiles by mortise and tenon joints. There is a lower cross rail that is roughly rectangular, concave, and tapers towards the center. The arms are curve downwards terminating in slightly knuckle-shaped ends. The arms are supported by the front legs as well as two spindles that are of slightly different heights.
