DescriptionBalloon back side chair with an upholstered seat. The chair has a saddle seat frame. The seat is flared at the front with a bow or serpentine front edge. On the underside of the seat in each corner there is an arrowhead-shaped wooden piece that is screwed to the rectangular/curved wooden apron as support for the seat. The seat itself is stuffed and embroidered with a supportive wooden perimeter. The front legs are turned with a block-double ring-ball series at the upper end that tapers to a spool-ball foot. The back legs are curved and continue up the back of the chair to form the curved crest rail. There is a single cross-piece that consists of a single central c-curve that is bounded by inverted c-carvings and is secured to the back uprights by round mortise and tenon joints.Collections
