DescriptionHardwood windsor style armchair with rabbit-ear stiles. Between the stiles is five tapered spindles that support a flat crestrail. The chair has four slightly splayed legs that are held together by a box stretcher, the front and back are off-set. The seat is a thick, one piece saddle seat and the arms are formed of dowels that are inserted in stiles and are supported by one spindle and one stile.
Narrative
James Kirkland worked in the Bedeque/St. Eleanors area 1840-1870. He made rabbit ear chairs painted black for the Frederick Moyse parlour in 1859.
