DescriptionThree sets of oversized mittens made of soft synthetic fabric - part of costume for 2023 Canada Games mascot. F-G are blue with a white horizontal stripe near the top and light green at the top of the fingers. H-I are green with a white horizontal stripe near the top and light green at the top of the fingers. J-K are bright orange. On each of the left hand mittens is a black label with a white maple leaf-like logo and white lettering for “PEI – IPE / 2023 / Jeux Du / Canada / Games”. Each of the right hand mittens has a black label located on the cuff, oriented vertically with “Karbon” in white letters. The interior of the each of the right and left hand mitten features two fabric tags attached to the seam. The first tag has “Custom Manufactured By International Mascot Corporation Edmonton, Canada 1 (800)668-9995 Made in Canada”. The second tag has instruction for care with handwritten inscription at the bottom “121-105D #A2 / Wowkwis (Tall)”
Narrative
The 2023 Canada Games Committee held a Island wide contest in the spring of 2021 among school age children to find a mascot for the 2023 Canada Games. 1,200 entries were received from 45 different schools, and in November 2021 it was announced that Myla Doucette's mascot "Wowkwis" (Mi'kmaq for "red-fox") was the winner and Doucette was able to meet the mascot in real-life.
