DescriptionWhite, brown and pink conch shell lamp. The shell has four layers of rings on the outside. Inside the shell is a small lightbulb with is attached to a brown electrical chord that runs through a hole in the shell. At the opposite end of the cord is a black and white plug that has two prongs.
Narrative
When Dr. Julian Jaynes passed away in 1997, his estate which included his summer home in Keppoch area of Stratford, PEI and all its contents were bequeathed the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation. This lamp was one of the items left in the house. This house was originally built in 1867 as the country property for Admiral Henry Wolsey Bayfield and his wife, Fanny Amelia Wright Bayfield.
