DescriptionPost card with a colour image of the Soldier's Monument, with a large wreath leaning against the base of the monument. There is red text across the top of the image which says "Solider's monument, Charlottetown, P.E. Island". The reverse of the card has "Souvenir / Mailing / Card" in the top center left, below is divided down the center with a vertical line with "Miss Eva / Walters / Lunenburg / B.W." written in ink. In the top right corner is a space reserved for a postage stamp. Narrative
This monument was designed by Hamilton McCarthy and was unveiled on July 6th 1903 and dedicated to the Island soldiers who died in South Africa during the Boer War. In 2003 it was rededicated to all Islanders who served in South Africa and with the Royal Canadian Regiment 1899-1902.
