Narrative

The Royal Visit in 1939 marked the first time that a reigning monarch had visited Canada. King George visited in his role as King of Canada, rather than King of Great Britain. The visit included a trip to the U.S.A which was also the first visit of a British monarch. With war brewing in Europe, this trip was full of diplomacy to determine interest for supporting any future conflict.
