DescriptionA shiny decorative plate with gold rim. A sepia-tone image of Queen Elizabeth II is in the center surrounded by three pink roses at the bottom, left and right, four pairs of thistles at top left and right and bottom left and right among a scattering of clover leaves. Cursive gold lettering is present on the top and bottom rim of the plate. The image of a gold and red crown is positioned above Queen Elizabeth. On the reverse is a green symbol of a crown between a set of wings. "Tuscan Fine English Bone China / Made in England" is above and below the symbol. Narrative
The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place on the 2nd of June, 1953. At 25 years old, the new queen was following in the footsteps of her father who had passed away on February 6, 1952. Celebrations took place throughout the Commonwealth countries including here on PEI. The coronation was the first in royal history to be televised.
