DescriptionA framed "Family Record" for the Trenaman family. The rectangular piece of paper is illustrated with ink and watercolour details. At the top-center is a gold crown with blue decorations with “Family” on the left and “Record” on the right written in a decorative font. Below is an arch in green, brown and dark blue. At the center of the arch is written “John Trenaman / Born 23rd Aug 1792 / Mary Collins / Born 10 January 1790”. Below this, at the center of the page and in framed boarder is “Married 26th December 1810”. On either side of the top half of the page are two columns with blue rounded tops and vertical lines of yellow, red-brown and green. Above the left column is a green and blue thistle and above the right column is a yellow bulb-like flower with green leaves and stem. At the bottom of the page are three columns with the headings “Births”, “Marriages” and “Deaths”. The columns are framed in a gold, brown and green boarder with rows of black cursive font.

The page is framed in a light down, wooden frame. The frame has brown paper backing taped with beige packing tape around the outer edge. Two small eye hooks are present on the left and right sides, just above center. Between the eye hooks is tied a double strand of beige string. The frame has a circular nail present at each corner.
Narrative

John Trenaman was born in Ermington, Devon, England in 1792. In 1813, Trenaman married Mary Collins, born 1790 in England. The couple immigrated to Prince Edward Island prior to 1820. Trenaman established himself as a clockmaker in Charlottetown selling tall-case clocks, ogee clocks and watches, likely imported from England and America. Mary Collins Trenaman died in Charlottetown in 1852. John Trenaman was remarried to Catherine Mason in 1855. He was buried in the Protestant Cemetery in Charlottetown, PEI, December 1868.
