During renovations to a former Lebanese grocery store, located on the corner of Pownal and Richmond streets, this coin was found amongst the assortment of candy and treat wrappers, hidden underneath the original store counter by Saied and Esma Kays' three daughters. Other items like this religious medal joined the group of treats enjoyed while "helping" their parents in the store.
The Holy Child Association was founded in France in 1846 by Bishop Charles de Forbin-Janson. The purpose of the association is to encourage children to be aware of the needs of other children. Pauline Jaricot, a fellow enthusiastic missionary, provided insightful advice to Bishop Forbin-Janson. She told him that children were best placed to understand the needs of other children. Pauline was beatified in May 2022. With that, he was inspired to start a children's charity.
