Narrative
The Holiday Island was completed in 1971 and served as a car ferry between Cape Tormentine New Brunswick and Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island until 1997 before moving to service the Caribou, Nova Scotia- Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island Route. At approximately 11:00 am on July 22 2022 a fire in the engine room of the MV Holiday Island forced the evacuation of the approximately 200 passengers. This roster is what the crew would have followed the day of in order to disembark those on board safely. The fire would be extinguished the next day and the ferry moved away from the mouth of the Wood Islands Harbour. Cars that the passengers had been forced to abandon were successfully removed from the ship on the afternoon of July 24. While the fire was contained to the engine room the ship was found to damaged beyond repair and was scrapped in November of the same year.
