DescriptionWorld War 2 gas mask, with a gas canister. The mask is composed of canvas covered rubber with 2 eye holes near the top. The eyeholes consist of circular pieces of glass clamped between ribbed metal rings on the outside and smooth metal ring on the inside. Towards the bottom of the mask front is a mouth opening which consists of a circular metal piece bordered with 8 narrow elongated openings on the inside, and a circular green metal unit on the outside with raised dome on top and bordered by numerous circular holes. The mouth unit is embedded in a galvanized metal circle which ends in a short galvanized metal tube. The metal tube fits inside a canvas covered flexible rubber tube which ends at short neck rising from almost rectangular red gas cannister. There is bands of wire that hold the ends of the canvas covered hose tightly at both ends. The cannister has rounded corners, three raised horizontal ridges on the top half of the can and eight rectangular frames on the bottom half. The back of the mask open with six straps leading to a spade shaped piece of leather.Collections
