Narrative
This style of helmet was first designed by John Leopold Brodie in 1915 for use by the British military during the First World War. The style of the helmet evolved over time but the protection provided by this helmet directly saved thousands of soldiers from fatal shrapnel head injuries. This helmet is a style from the First World War, most likely a Mark I, as determined by the interior head support and leather chin strap.? ?

Production of these helmets began in Canada in 1940. They remained in service a part of the Canadian military uniform until the 1960s.
