DescriptionWoven basket with a circular base. The sides widen to form a larger circular opening. The basket has a circular lid (4.0 cm). The basket and lid are woven in a one-over-one-under checker pattern. The warp splints on the basket (0.6 cm) are narrower than the weft splints (0.9 cm). The wood splints on the basket alternate with braided sweet grass that crosses over the weft splints on an angle. Around the top and bottom of the basket is several rows of braided sweet grass. Round the bottom of the basket is a row of jikiji’j. The warp splints on the lid (0.5 cm) are also narrower than the weft splints (0.8 cm). The outer edge of the lid has braided sweet grass as the warp. And then several rows of jikiji’j. Closer to the middle of the lid is several rows of wood splints and in the center of the lid is several rows of sweet grass. A flat handle of braided sweet grass with a bow like design sits on the top of the lid. The rim of the basket is single bound wood splint and the rim of the lid is single bound sweet grass.
