DescriptionWoven basket with a circular base. The side bulge before narrowing to a circular opening. The basket has a circular lid (4.0 cm). The basket and lid are woven in a one-over-one-under checker pattern. The warp splints on the basket are three different widths (0.3 cm, 0.6 cm and 1.0 cm) and are mostly narrower than the weft splints (0.8 cm). Around the bottom and middle of the basket is several rows of jikiji’j. Between the sets of jikiji’j the warp splints alternate with strips of braided sweet grass. Near the top of the basket there are also several rows of braided sweet grass. Around the top of the basket is a single wider splint. The middle width warp splints are the jikiji’j. The warp splints on the lid are two widths (0.5 cm and 0.3 cm) are narrower than the weft splints (0.9 cm). The lid is also decorated with rows of jikiji’j with two rows of braided sweet grass and rows of unbraided sweet grass. The wider width warp splints are the jikiji’j. In the middle of the lid is a handle made of braided sweet grass with bow like loops at the ends. The rim of the basket is single bound wood splint and the rim of the lid is double wrapped sweet grass. Collections
