This little matinee coat was made by Lulu Nicholson (nee Myers) in the 1950s. Lulu starting exhibiting her work through the Women's Institute Pavilion as part of the PEI Provincial Exhibition and continued to exhibit for 40 years. Her work always won first place in the competitions.
Lulu was an avid sewer, making a variety of doll, baby and children's clothing which she sold in many locations, including the Singer sewing machine store. Many people also came to her house to buy clothes. When a long-term illness required Lulu to move into long-term care, she continued to skillfully manipulate her sewing machine making children's clothing.
