DescriptionWoven wall hanging basket with a rectangular base and slightly flared sides including the back which extends beyond the height of the rest of the edge of the basket. The basket is woven in a one-over-one-under checker pattern with warp splints of two different widths (0.3 cm and 1.5 cm). The weft splints are all uniform is width (1.2 cm). Around the center of the base is a row of diamond jikiji’j that are inserted between two rows of wider splints. Above and below the row of jikiji’j is a row of the narrow warp splints. The rim is single bound sweet grass bound with a wood splint. The upper part of the back is vaguely pyramid shaped. At the top of the pyramid is eight rows of the narrow warp splints. There are also two twos of diamond jikiji’j on the back. One of these rows is directly above the rim and the second is about half way up the back. Attached to the back is a wood splint loop that is wrapped in another wood splint. The narrow warp splints are dyed green as is the warp splint between the upper jikiji’j and the warp splint above the top jikiji’j. The remainder of the warp splints are dyed red. Collections
