DescriptionWoven basket with a square base. The side are flared to form a circular opening. The basket has one rounded hinged handle. The basket is woven in a one-over-one-under checker pattern. The warp strands (2.0 cm) are slightly narrower than the weft strands (2.3 cm). The rim of the basket is wood splints nailed to the basket. The basket has a rounded handle that is attached to the basket with a single nail on each side into the rim. These nails act as hinges.This style is an apple basket due to the hinged handle. This basket is attributed to maker, Irene Lewis.
