"Anne of Green Gables the Musical" premiered in 1965 as part of the Confederation Centre of the Arts Charlottetown Festival. The musical ran for a record breaking 54 years as Canada's longest running musical until the COVID-19 pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020. Based on the 1908 novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery the musical was created by Don Harron, Norm Campbell, Elaine Campbell and Mavor Moore.
