DescriptionWoven basket with a circular base and straight side. The basket has a carved handle that is notched at the rim. The basket is woven primarily in a one-over-one-under checker pattern with most of the warp splints (0.8 cm) being slightly narrower than the weft splints (1 cm). Around the top and center of the basket are two rows where the warp (1.5 cm) splints are wider than the weft splints. Within these rows is a row of diamond jikiji’j that is inserted between the rows. The jikiji’j are dyed red. The rim is wood splints single bound with another wood splint. The handle is carved with a hand hold in the center and notches where it meets the rim. Collections
